About Rabi al-Awwal
Rabi al-Awwal is the third month of the Islamic Hijri calendar and one of the most beloved months across the Muslim world, as it contains the birth date of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on the twelfth day. The Mawlid al-Nabi celebrations of Rabi al-Awwal commemorate this birth and have been observed in various forms across the Muslim world since at least the eleventh century, when the Fatimid dynasty in Egypt institutionalized the festival.
